David Polasek's Holeczech Fuel Can is not just a fuel storage solution; it's a design marvel that combines functionality and aesthetics. Inspired by the behavior of water running out of a garden pipe, Polasek aimed to replicate this clean and controlled process in his fuel can design. The silhouette of the can, reminiscent of a house, symbolizes its domestic utility.
The Holeczech Fuel Can stands out for its unique Anti-Gargling Technology, which ensures a smooth emptying process and balances air pressure inside the can, preventing uncontrolled spilling. Available in three sizes - 5L, 10L, and 20L - each can is equipped with a special funnel to facilitate this process.
The cans are produced by a company specializing in unique moulded and injected plastic products, using HDPE material. The dimensions of the cans are designed to be compact and lightweight, with the 5L can measuring H 295 x W 260 x D 124, the 10L can H 371 x W 290 x D 170, and the 20L can H 452 x W 356 x D 210.
The design process, which started in August 2016 in Czechia and concluded in September 2017, faced several challenges. The primary goal was to create a unique technology that would allow for easy filling and emptying of the can without common issues like gargling and uncontrolled spilling. Additionally, the team aimed to minimize the dimensions and weight of the construction while maintaining a unique, original style. The final design consists of only three parts, each made using simple double mold forms.
The Holeczech Fuel Can is a testament to David Polasek's innovative approach to design. His focus on functionality, user-friendliness, and aesthetics has resulted in a product that is not only practical but also visually pleasing. The Silver A' Packaging Design Award is a well-deserved recognition of Polasek's outstanding expertise and innovation.
